The Pope urges more sharing and giving.
“a few dine luxuriantly while all too many go without the daily bread needed to survive,” he laments.
He says Christianity pointed to a new way to live “not by devouring and hoarding, but by sharing and giving”
Which is rich (!) when remembering that historically it was the Church that amassed (!) all the wealth while the common folk lived in poverty.
And I’m not sure much has changed. However much money you and I have, it’s a drop in the ocean to the amount of money and resources that the Vatican has.
So I think we should look at this, if you would indulge me, a little differently.
I know that the pope does give charity, but then so do I.
But I wonder whether percentage-of-total-money-that-we-have wise, I don’t give more money to charity than he does.
In which case instead of preaching to me, he should be practicing what I already do.
